Summary: | Discussion on the perils and pitfalls of anonymity in whistleblowing law is presented. Whistleblowing is defined as the disclosure by organization members of illegal, immoral or illegitimate practices under control of their employers, to persons or organizations that may be able to effect action. Many companies create and operate internal whistleblower programs, which commonly include whistlblower hotlines, to create an environment that encourages the exchange of information regarding perceived wrongdoings within the organization. However, it also mentions a major difference between confidential submission by a whistleblower as compared to anonymous submissions by a whistleblower. It also explores the rules that govern whistleblowers to ensure that their personal and professional lives are protected. |
