Summary: | Awards At the joint NAGT/GSA/CUR Awards luncheon at the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America, I presented two awards for the Journal of Geoscience Education. The Outstanding Paper Award recognizes the author(s) of a paper published in the previous year that has had a significant impact-that impact may be on student learning, the field of geoscience education research, broader society, or beyond. Every metric I can share with you suggests that JGE is very healthy and growing: * The number of submissions has increased year over year: after averaging 50-60 submissions per year for several years, we had 76 submissions in 2018 and 82 submissions as of December 1, 2019. * The number of full-text downloads has increased quarter over quarter in the two years weve been published by Taylor & Francis, to well over 6000 downloads per quarter. * Our international readership has grown, particularly from the UK, Australia, and Canada. * Our CiteScore, which is calculated based on the number of citations of a journal in a particular year and the number of articles published in the previous three years, is at 1.29 as of November, 2019, up from 1.01 in 2018, placing us firmly in the second quartile of education journals. |
