Summary:Four new metal-organic frameworks were synthesized based on the N -donor ligand 1,5-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)-3-selenapentane ( L ) novel in this field of chemistry: three one-dimensional metal-organic frameworks based on silver( I ) cations, [Ag 3 ( L ) 2 (NO 3 ) 2 ]-NO 3 ·MeOH ( 1 ), [Ag(L)]NO 3 ( 2 ), and [Ag(L)(H 2 O)]NO 3 ( 3 ), and one three-dimensional metal-organic framework [Zn 3 (bdc) 3 ( L )]·0.5 MeOH (4, H 2 bdc is 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid). Compounds 1 and 4 contain trinuclear units. In compound 1, these units are linked via the ligand L to form polymer chains. In compound 4, the ligand L bridges polymer layers, which are composed of carboxylate units {Zn 3 (bdc) 6 }, to form a three-dimensional framework. Compounds 2 and 3 are composed of mononuclear units, which are connected via the ligand L to form polymer chains. Luminescence of compound 3 was found to be due to intraligand transitions.
