Summary: | Tardios attempts to "write back" to this "failed love affair" between the two countries and, in the process, interrogates Durrell's "entanglement in British colonial politics." Barish Ali in his article, "Minority in Perspective: Lawrence Durrell's Bitter Lemons and the Cyprus Problem," shows that a "pessoptimist" approach to a unified Cyprus can be considered if one goes baek into the "textual record," i.e. the many "descriptions of humanistic compassion" that exist between the Turkish and Greek Cypriots. [...]the issue offers an on-going gift to Durrell scholars. |
