Description
Summary:Plagiostachys nicobarica M. Sabu, E. Sanoj and M. G. Prasanth is a narrow endemic species and known only from its type locality, near Indira Point at almost sea-level altitude in Great Nicobar Islands. Several population of the species were washed out by tsunami flood, and other individuals are in critical condition because of the waterlogged condition. During Grass exploration of Great Nicobar Islands in 2016, authors collected P. nicobarica from other than the type locality with several species in the population. Thus, a note on the occurrence of P. nicobarica with its present IUCN status is provided.
