Description
Summary:Graphene oxide (GO) is mixed with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in chitosan (CS) solution to form a novel interesting nano-composite that is safe for food. The hardness, thickness, specular gloss, morphology, and elemental composition of AgNPs/GO/CS nano-composite have been considered. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) image of AgNPs/GO/CS nano-composite displays a uniform well-formed film with thickness of 155 µm and microhardness of 495 HV. The effect of AgNPs/GO/CS nano-composite on the corrosion behavior of ceramics was also considered by different electrochemical tests. The influences of pH, temperature, and surface modification on the corrosion protection of ceramic alloy were tested in a constant composition of universal buffer. Polarization curves verified that AgNPs/GO/CS nano-composite acted as a mixed-type coating with a protection efficiency (PE) of 99.0%. Moreover, the temperature and the pH values were found to significantly affect the corrosion behavior of the ceramic alloy. This work displays well a new industrial application approach for modifying commercial ceramic utensils with a cost-effective coating to be used safely for food.
