Summary: | [Display omitted]
•Benzimidazolyl substituted cyclotriphosphazene derivatives were reported.•These derivatives were fully characterized by spectroscopic techniques.•Their antimicrobial properties were investigated.•Compound 7 has a potential to be used as an antimicrobial agent.
In the present work, novel monospiro-(2′,2′′-dioxy-1′,1′′-biphenyl) cyclotriphosphazene derivatives containing benzimidazolyl moieties (5, 6 and 7) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, mass and 1H- and 31P NMR spectroscopic techniques. The antimicrobial effects of these compounds were screened in vitro against Escherichia coli (ATCC 8739) as Gram-negative bacilli and Gram-positive strains Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 29213) and Bacillus subtilis (ATCC 6633) as Gram(+) bacilli and Candida albicans (ATCC 10231) as fungi strains. In addition, compound 7 which was more effective substance than the other was evaluated by minimal inhibition concentration method. |
