Description
Summary:— The effect of the treatment of borosilicate glass with hydrofluoric acid (HF), Caro’s acid, and concentrated hydrogen peroxide solution on their hydrophilic-hydrophobic properties and surface morphology is studied by the method of the measurement of the contact angle and calculation of the total, polar, and dispersion parts of the surface energy. It is shown that the most significant and stable hydrophilization of the glass surface, together with the maximum increase in the surface energy, is reached at the subsequent treatment with Caro’s acid and HF.
