Description
Summary:[...]the scopolamine hydrobromide orodispersible films successfully tailored for the use in dentistry as an antisialagogue formulation. [...]for an anti-sialagogue drug like scopolamine hydrobromide, to minimize the chair time needed for dental procedures by reducing the salivation in the oral cavity, a quick-disintegrating dosage form is suitable, since the disintegration and dissolution of the dosage form occurs rapidly, thus providing a rapid onset of action with minimum drug dose. [...]by formulating the orodispersible films of scopolamine hydrobromide, the drawbacks observed by the scopolamine hydrobromide oral solutions can be overcome as these films rapidly disintegrate in the saliva and show rapid onset of action, hence improve the patient compliance. [...]the objective of the present work was to develop the orodispersible films of scopolamine hydrobromide by solvent casting technique by using pullulan and HPMC polymer combination. Pullulan, hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) E15, and poly ethylene glycol (PeG) was purchased from Loba Chemicals, Mumbai.
