Summary: | One of the conditions of accident-free operation of compressor chillers and reduction of costs for the cooling system is a correct choice of the intermediate refrigerant quantity but there are some contradictions in the manufacturer's recommendations to determine this parameter. The authors derived the formula for calculating the required mass of liquid in a system with a compressor chiller and showed that it has a maximum when the minimum cooling capacity of the chiller is twice the supplied heat load. The proposed dependence makes it possible to prevent the operation of compressors in short cycles and reduce the cost of the cooling system by minimizing the coolant amount. |
