Description
Summary:Assisted tandem catalysis via structural change of the Grubbs catalyst with molecular oxygen as a chemical trigger is depicted in the image. The tandem process is initiated by the ring‐closing metathesis (the first gear located in the lower‐left), followed by oxygen mediated in situ transformation of the Grubbs catalyst to the Ru‐CO complex (the second gear located in the upper side), which finally catalyzes aerobic dehydrogenation of N‐heterocycles to N‐heteroarenes (the third gear located in the right). The tandem process was applied to total synthesis of pyocyanine. For more information, see the Communication from H. Tokuyama et al. on page 15793.
