Description
Summary:The article studies the morphology of the top surface of Ti-2Al-1.5Mn alloy welds produced by friction stir welding. The surface morphology directly depends on the nature of mass transfer at welding. The spacing between the transfer layers, fractal dimension of the surface, complexity of the 2D profile curve and roughness were chosen as characteristics. It was found that the spacing between the transfer layers is load-dependent, which was not previously observed. It was found that the formation of the transfer layer is complex. In particular, a transfer layer may contain up to four peaks. Technological parameters affect the height and number of peaks. The surface complexity can be determined by the fractal dimensionality or the complexity of the 2D profile curve. These methods have shown good agreement. Roughness often depended inversely on surface complexity.
