Let Φ be a root system of type E 6 , E 7 , or E 8 . Let K be a field of characteristic different from 2. Let δ be the maximal root of Φ and Φ 0 = { α ∈ Φ; δ ⊥ α }. The orbits of the group G sc (Φ 0 , K ) acting on the set 〈 e α ; ∠( α ,  δ ) = π/3〉 are described.
