Low-Temperature Carbide Transformation in Pearlite of Medium-Carbon Steels

Metallographic studies of annealed medium-carbon steels (45, 40Kh, and 35KhGSA) showed that there is low-temperature peritectoid carbide transformation of pearlite of these steels, in which solid solutions of ferrite and cementite form solid solution with a broad homogeneity range on the basis of ε-...

Description
Summary:Metallographic studies of annealed medium-carbon steels (45, 40Kh, and 35KhGSA) showed that there is low-temperature peritectoid carbide transformation of pearlite of these steels, in which solid solutions of ferrite and cementite form solid solution with a broad homogeneity range on the basis of ε-carbide Fe 2 C. It was suggested to plot the horizontal line of peritectoid transformation at the temperature of 382°C and the horizontal line of peritectoid transformation of cementite at 1650°C on the Fe–C diagram of state.
