Summary: | Indian River State College (IRSC) transforms lives by offering high-quality, affordable, and accessible education online and on five campuses located on the southeast Treasure Coast of Florida. Between 1988 and 2000, IRSC took the initiative to rally the communities IRSC serves around innovations to stimulate economic development and to prepare the 21st-century workforce. The changes created a new value proposition, with the college taking on the role as a resource for community change supported by businesses and the public. Moving from a reactive to a proactive role required a shift in the college's culture to provide a workplace that anticipates, accepts, and engages change. A new culture of creativity and inquiry has resulted in the establishment of world-class facilities and dynamic programs on each of the five campuses. The years of focus on the institutional culture has enhanced the college's ability to respond quickly to crisis, challenges, and needed transitions. In this time of crisis, the years spent building a sustainable, healthy culture prepared Indian River to transition quickly while maintaining a focus on student success, quality services, and high-quality instructional programs. |
