Summary:Features of the remote contactless monitoring of the current operating state of high-voltage insulators are considered. The residual life of the insulators is estimated using a set of the diagnostic parameters of most dangerous defects. Particular attention is given to the problem of ultra-high partial discharges caused by the accumulation of charge on the dielectric surfaces of defects from previous partial discharges.
