Summary: | This article shows the possibility of using the SRTM model to search for the best options for detailed ground-based engineering surveys in flat treeless regions. The authors studied the accuracy of the SRTM model for the territory of the Russian Federation to the south of 60° N and neighboring countries (17 countries in Europe and 10 countries in Asia). A zonal map of the identified systematic errors of the SRTM elevation matrix is shown. Using the example of the Ramensky section of the Moskva River valley (near the cities of Zhukovsky and Ramenskoye), the absolute surface heights of the inundation zone were determined and the boundaries and depths of flooding were calculated and mapped for a flood of 1% exceedance probability. Maps of engineering protection from flooding of this territory on a scale of 1 : 100 000 and larger, as well as parts of the Moskva and Oka river valleys on a smaller scale of 1 : 1 000 000, are proposed. |
