Summary:Scintillation properties of crystals based on complex oxides of group 3 elements such as Y 3 Al 5 O 12 :Ce, Y 3 Al 5 O 12 :Sc, Y 3 Al 5 O 12 :Re, Y 3 Al 5 O 12 :Sc:La, YAlO 3 :Ce, YAlO 3 :Ce:Yb, YAlO 3 :Ce:Sc, YAlO 3 :Eu, YAlO 3 :Re, YAlO 3 :Ti, and YAlO 3 :Ce:Ti are studied. Crystals based on complex oxides of group 3 elements have high thermal shock resistance and high corrosive resistance. These crystals have good temporal characteristics with their relatively high density and energy conversion efficiency. It is shown that these scintillators can be promising for the design of α-particle spectrometers with good energy resolution.
