Summary:While I was NASA Chief Historian between 1990 and 2002, the newly appointed NASA Administrator Daniel S. Goldin had some success in changing NASA's "old boy" network. Everyone at Ames remembers how Goldin embarrassed the center's senior leadership by chastising it for the small number of women and People of Color in senior leadership positions. Around the conference table, Goldin saw a collection of older white males and a number of younger and more diverse underlings sitting in perimeter chairs.
