Summary: | Coupland discusses his checklist of Carolingian coin hoards from 751 to 987. He states that in 2011, he published a Checklist of all known coin hoards containing at least three coins deposited together and minted by the Carolingian monarchs who reigned in continental western Europe between 751 and 987. Three years later this was supplemented by a list of a further 26 hoards, most of them new discoveries which had turned up in the intervening years, as well as others which had been recorded or published previously but were unknown to him in 2011. One of the weaknesses of the Checklist which subsequently became apparent was the difficulty of locating a particular hoard in a lengthy chronological list, and the present article aims to remedy that flaw by combining all the hoards in one alphabetical list, with a reference to the Checklist (C) or Supplements (S). |
