Deformation Mechanism, Texture, and Anisotropy of the Mechanical Properties of MA14, VMD7-1, and Mg–5Li–3Al Alloys

The inverse pole figures built at the consecutive stages of compressive tests by 1–6% in the longitudinal and transverse directions of pressed rods made of MA14 (Mg–Zn–Zr), VMD7-1 (Mg–Y–Nd–Zn–Zr), and Mg–5Li–3Al alloys are used to determine the influence of alloying on the deformation mechanisms and...

Description
Summary:The inverse pole figures built at the consecutive stages of compressive tests by 1–6% in the longitudinal and transverse directions of pressed rods made of MA14 (Mg–Zn–Zr), VMD7-1 (Mg–Y–Nd–Zn–Zr), and Mg–5Li–3Al alloys are used to determine the influence of alloying on the deformation mechanisms and the anisotropy of the mechanical properties. The orientational Sachs factors are calculated for basal slip, and the contribution of the texture and the deformation mechanism to the anisotropy of the mechanical properties during tensile and compressive tests is estimated.
