Summary: | A solar air heater with wire mesh packed bed was experimentally tested for hydro thermal analysis for a porosity range from 0.887 to 0.599. Reference data was taken for the flow rates of air ranging from 0.0159 kgs-1m-2 to 0.0347 kgs- 1m-2 for 8 different sets of wire screen matrices. To find the improvement in thermal efficiency the comparison between Solar packed bed air heater & conventional solar air collector was done. It was observed that packed bed operating parameters and geometrical parameters was playing the main role in enhancement of thermal efficiency. A correlation, as a function of geometrical parameters and Reynolds number for Colburn Jh factor was obtained. |
