Summary:Pharmacovigilance is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as "the science and activities relating to the detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse effects or any other possible drug-related problems"2 ADRs are defined by WHO as "any noxious, unintended, and undesired effect drug that occurs as a result of treatment with drug at a normal doses used in man for diagnosis, prophylaxis, and treatment"6. Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) can result in increased length of hospital stays; increased cost of therapy; increased hospital admission; and increased patient morbidity and mortality7-11.
