Summary: | Antibacterial and antifungal activity of extracts with different concentrations (50, 100, 150pg/ml) was tested with three gram positive, three gram negative bacteria and two fungal organisms by agar disc diffusion method. According to gram positive microorganism, ethanol and chloroform extracts produced more zone of inhibition (10 -15mm) than methanol extract. Microorganisms: Three gram negative microorganisms namely Pseudomonas aeruginosa (NCIM 2037), Escherichia coli (NCIM 2256), Serratia marcescens (NCIM 2078) and three gram positive microorganisms namely Bacillus subtilis (NCIM 2710), Staphylococcus aureus (NCIM 2794), Micrococcus luteus (NCIM 2871) were used in this studies. The antimicrobial nature of the leaf extract was studied by agar well diffusion method against wound infection-causing pathogens viz., Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. |
