Description
Summary:[...]there are notable differences present between adherence and compliance and signify that the patient and general practitioner collaboratively combine to improve the physical health of the patient by effectively combining the guidance given by the practicing physician and patient's health status, preferences for care, social lifestyle, and values[79] whereas compliance implies the extent to which a patient's routine medication intake and obedience correctly matches the prescriber's medical advice. Scarcity of resources always hinders the patients from following their decisions to implement treatment including medication regimen cost, problems of accessing prescribed medicine, poor knowledge about the drug availability, and competing their own drug demands. Intentional poor adherence to treatment commonly arises from the faith, interest to take medication regimen, expectation of their disease outcome, and patient attitude and expectations which predominantly influences mental motivation of the people to start and to continue with the treatment regimen in specific time limit. [26] The above high prevalence is due to poor socioeconomic status, inadequate knowledge, cultural and religious beliefs in chronic disease, social stigma prevailing within the people, poor infrastructure of health delivery systems, and scarcity of well-experienced public health workers and field staffs.
