Description
Summary:•n-olefins provide resources for production of acetals used as diesel fuel additives.•Interaction of 1-hexene with ethanol, acetic acid and acetaldehyde was studied.•Interaction of 1-hexene with acetaldehyde  lead to the formation of paraldehyde and cyclic acetals. Due to a high demand in introducing innovative, modern, environmentally friendly and highly efficient antiknock fuel additives based on oxygenates, the possibility of synthesizing oxygen-containing compounds based on olefins of normal structure was shown. Interaction of 1-hexene with ethanol, acetic acid and acetaldehyde was studied. It was established that n-olefins could provide extra resources for production of acetals used as diesel fuel additives.
