Synthesis of Fused Heterocyclic Systems Derived from 2-Aryl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines

A convenient method of synthesis of fused heterocyclic systems, involving cyclization of the reaction products of 2-aryl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines with triphosgene, chloroacetyl chloride, and oxalyl chloride in the presence of anhydrous AlCl 3 in carbon disulfide or dichloroethane.
