Summary: | The existential value of journalism has been debated since its birth. Journalism is regulated not only by the constraints of communication technology, but more importantly, by the social character, political system and ideology of the sate and region in which it lies. It is therefore impossible for journalism to formulate a universal and unified criterion for assessing its value. However, this does not prevent journalism exchanges and mutual learning between nations and regions. As a specific occupational division, journalists in different countries and regions will generally have professional features in common; they will sooner or later face the challenge of new communication technologies, and will then make corresponding adjustments and changes to their operations. One example is the first of constructive journalism round the world in recent years. |
