Summary: | Locomotive-wheel is most important area of the railway engineering. Wheel part is most typical geometry in wheel system problems. Now a days the loads on axle of railway cars increase because material and goods etc. transport to long distance and its very economical to compare road transport system. The rail-wheels are subjected to high contact stresses of alternating magnitude.
A train wheel are specially designed for rail transport system. A rolling component is typically pressed onto an axle and mounted directly on a locomotive. Wheels are cast or forged and are heat-treated to have a specific hardness. All wheel profiles need to be periodically monitored to ensure proper wheel-rail interface.
In this paper, first part is design a locomotive wheel according Indian standard which is available in literature. Next part is analysis of the locomotive wheel with different material. It observed that less stress and optimum deformation for the Nickel chromium Molybdenum alloy steel in static in static analysis |
