Summary: | Appearance of cracks is an important factor causing problems of leakage of water, decrease of bearing capacity and degradation of durability for U-shaped thin-walled RC beams (U-beams). It is necessary to determine the cracking loads during the process of structural design. The related researches are extremely limited. Viewing the urgent need, cracking loads of U-beams subjected to eccentric loading are studied and an applicable equation is derived. Besides, two specimens of U-beams loaded by eccentric forces were tested. Experimental results and calculated cracking loads coincide well with each other. |
