Description
Summary:Background/Aims: The objective of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the performance of Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counseling of Posyandu cadres. Methods: The research design used was cross sectional. The sample set were 55 cadres from 2 villages in Ciomas Bogor Subdistrict with the criteria of working as a cadre for at least 2 years, minimum education in junior high school and active cadres. Cadre characteristic data consisted of name, age, education, cadre work, number of family members, length of time being a cadre and ever or no training was collected using a structured questionnaire. Cadre knowledge data was obtained by giving questionnaires containing questions with 4 answer choices. Data on attitudes, motivation and performance were obtained by giving questionnaires and measured using a 5-point Likert scale. Results: The results of the validity and reliability of the questionnaire showed reliable. To analyze the hypothesis of the influence of characteristics, knowledge, attitudes, motivation on performance (Y) in the cadre group, the data was processed using structural equation modeling (SEM) with the method of partial least square (PLS) estimation. The results showed that the exogenous latent variables that influence the performance of IYCF counseling in Posyandu cadres were education, had received training and length of time being a cadre and motivation. It has not been proven that there was a significant effect of knowledge and attitudes towards the performance of IYCF counseling. Conclusion: Continuous training and motivation are important to improve cadres' performance on IYCF counseling.
