Description
Summary:Reis N, Sant'Ana L, Moreira L, Brown A, Mansur H, Ferreira P, Novaes J, Ribeiro A, Vianna J. Acute Effect of Ischemic Preconditioning on Performance and Metabolic Responses in Crossfit[R] Practitioners. JEPonline 2021;24(4):54-64. The purpose of this study was to analyze the acute effect of ischemic preconditioning on performance and metabolic responses in CrossFit[R] practitioners. Fifteen Crossfit[R] practitioners performed the FRAN. The subjects' lactate and muscle oxygen saturation (SP[O.sub.2]) at rest and post-test, and performance time were checked and compared. It was performed homogeneity of variance, effect size, one-way ANOVA, two-way ANOVA. To evaluate the significance was adopted P[less than or equal to]0.05. The results showed that the application of the ischemic preconditioning (IPC) did not improve performance. In the lactate variable, in the 12th-min, there was a difference between the sessions. In the assessment of muscle oxygen saturation, it was observed that after the application of the IPC, the average was reduced. After 12 min, it returned to the resting value, which showed a difference between the IPC vs. the SHAM sessions. Thus, it was concluded that the IPC is an effective strategy used in CrossFit[R] practitioners. Key Words: CrossFit, Ischemic Preconditioning, Performance
