Summary: | The investigation and statistical analysis of structural planes are important in geological surveys. The window sampling method is widely used for structural plane investigations; however, traditional survey methods take considerable time in drawing sketches, measuring the spatial attitude of structural planes, and postprocessing. This article designs and develops an Android smartphone application that uses the window sampling method for structural plane investigation and statistical analysis, and introduces the logic flow, functions design, main algorithms, and statistical calculation methods of the application. After testing, the program can quickly complete the investigative and statistical work and export data such as photos, sketches, rose diagrams, and statistical results. Structural statistical investigation through smartphones can improve survey efficiency, standardize data formats, and facilitate subsequent processing. This article provides a new method and idea for traditional geological investigations. |
