Summary: | The chromium-nickel alloy 42KhNM developed at VNIINM is used for the cladding on the fuel rods in nuclear icebreakers as well as the absorbing rods for the control and protection of VVER reactors. The alloy is promising for use in the cladding of dispersion-type fuel rods for low-power nuclear power plants (RITM-200 and Shelf-M installations) and floating power units as well as VVER container-type fuel rods in the context of fuel stability in emergency situations. |
