Summary: | In this paper, the importance of near-blade flow structure influence on the performance of a centrifugal compressor was discussed. The negative effects of eddies and secondary flows appearance were described, together with the proposal of their reduction. Three-dimensional analyses were performed for the rotors. Focus was placed on the blade's 3D curvature impact on the efficiency of compression, and the influence of blade-shroud tip existence. A few design proposals were investigated - their performance maps were the basis of further analysis. Proposed modification of blade shape changed the near-blade flow structure and improved the compressor performance. |
