Description
Summary:We present a simple and facile strategy for the fabrication of BSA (Bovine Serum Albumin) functionalized Graphene Quantum Dots (BQDs) via the hydrothermal method. BQDs were synthesized using BSA and citric acid. Optical and morphological investigations were carried out to examine the structure BQDs. The photoluminescence of synthesized BQDs was observed to decay upon the addition of hypochlorite ions. There is absence of any interference due to competitive ions. Limit of detection (LOD) comes out to be 35.39 μM for hypochlorite ions in aqueous system. [Display omitted] •Simple and environmental friendly synthesis by using hydrothermal method.•BSA functionalization on the surface of graphene QDs.•BQDs show excellent water solubility, stability and photoluminescence.•Synthesized BQDs are highly selective towards hypochlorite ion.
