Description
Summary:An experiment carried out on the LIL facility is presented. The experiment was designed to investigate the propagation of a multi-kJ laser beam through a plasma produced by the irradiation of a low-density plastic foam. Laser beam self-smoothing has been observed and its consequences on laser imprint and Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) are discussed.
