Summary: | Comparison of electron transport across dodecanethiol capped Au nanoclusters adsorbed in different locations viz. in an agglomeration, on isolated particle either on the terrace or at the step edge of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite using scanning tunneling microscopy / spectroscopy is carried out. Current-distance measurements on these different locations shows different regimes suggesting different mechanisms for electron transport. Current-voltage measurements at these locations have been carried out and the results are discussed in the light of orthodox theory for electron transport in double-barrier tunnel junction. |
