Summary: | The regularities of joint action of the additives characterized by different inhibition mechanisms for the protection of mild steel in aqueous saline media are investigated. We study, in total, 14 inhibiting mixtures with different concentration ratio. The accumulated results on the protective efficiency and produced morphological and structural modifications of the metal surface are interpreted with regard for a coaction of individual inhibiting factors. Various kinds of interaction that may result in synergistic and antagonistic effects are discussed. A schematic representation of the inhibitor mechanism aliasing effects is presented and a theoretical model that reflects the joint action of individual additives in multicomponent inhibiting systems is additionally extended and refined. |
