Description
Summary:Consideration is given to the problem on the convective stability of mechanical equilibrium of a mixture of liquids with limited mutual solubility in a porous medium. It is assumed that in the initial state of mechanical equilibrium, the mixture fills the horizontal porous layer and is separated into two phases: the upper lighter phase and the lower heavy one. At the lower boundary of the layer, the higher temperature is maintained than that at the upper boundary. A study is made of the influence of the heat of phase transition and the ratio of phase densities on conditions for the onset of convection and on the structure of occurring flows.
