Summary: | The compressed sensing (CS) technique is applied to the diffraction tomography (DT) method for through-the-wall radar imaging (TWRI), which leads to significantly decreasing the number of measurements and, consequently, reducing the data acquisition time. A large amount of required measurements is a real difficulty in TWRI, which is addressed in our work, due to the CS theory. In addition, the nonuniform fast Fourier transform (NUFFT) is also employed in the DT algorithm to accelerate the image reconstruction processing time. By exploiting the advantages of both the CS and NUFFT, the imaging speed is noticeably increased. As a proof of concept, in a sample scenario, our experiments show that, by using only 10% of the measurements used in the conventional DT algorithm, the imaging time is reduced by around 1/4 (with respect to the conventional DT method) while maintaining the quality of the reconstructed images. |
