Summary:Plasma screening can enhance the thermonuclear reaction rates significantly. The most pronounced effect takes place in the white dwarf cores and neutron star envelopes; there the enhancement factor can reach as tenths orders of magnitude. Here thermodynamically consistent description of this effect, which does not violate of the detailed balance principle, is discussed.
