Summary: | Thespesia рopulnea
bark activated carbon (TPC) was used as a natural adsorbent to remove Pb(II) ions from an aqueous solution. Research work has been carried out to identify the impact of pH, contact time, temperature, Langmuir as well as Freundlich adsorption isotherms of the Pb(II) ions using activated carbon with the help of batch adsorption experiments. Thermodynamic quantities, namely Δ
H
, Δ
S
, and Δ
G
were computed from the equilibrium constant values. The obtained Δ
H
° values most probably correspond to the model most probably correspond to the model of physical adsorption. This investigation clearly shows that TPC adsorbent is very much suitable for the adsorption of Pb(II) ions, and can be used as a low cost effective adsorbent in the industrial effluent treatment. |
