RuO2 Nanostructures from Ru(III) Complexes As a New Smart Nanomaterials for Using in the Recycling and Sustainable Wastewater Treatment: Synthesis, Characterization, and Catalytic Activity in the Hydrogen Peroxide Decomposition

RuO 2 nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by the calcination of three Ru(III) complexes containing Ru(III) ion, ofloxacin drug and amino acid as a precursor in static air at 600°C for 3 h. The Ru(III) complexes were [Ru(OFL)(Ala)(H 2 O) 2 ]Cl 2 , [Ru(OFL)(Gly)(H 2 O) 2 ]Cl 2 , and [Ru(OFL) 2 (Cl) 2 ]C...

Description
Summary:RuO 2 nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by the calcination of three Ru(III) complexes containing Ru(III) ion, ofloxacin drug and amino acid as a precursor in static air at 600°C for 3 h. The Ru(III) complexes were [Ru(OFL)(Ala)(H 2 O) 2 ]Cl 2 , [Ru(OFL)(Gly)(H 2 O) 2 ]Cl 2 , and [Ru(OFL) 2 (Cl) 2 ]Cl, where OFL is ofloxacin, Ala is alanine amino acid, and Gly is glycine amino acid. The structure and morphology of the synthesized RuO 2 NPs were characterized using FTIR, XRD, SEM, and EDX techniques. The XRD results confirms the orthorhombic structure of RuO 2 . The catalytic activity performance of the prepared RuO 2 NPs was examined by the degradation of H 2 O 2 solution. The obtained data indicated that RuO 2 materials could effectively degrade H 2 O 2 .
