Summary: | In this work, various methods of leaching blast-furnace sludge have been investigated in order to extract sulfur and zinc and simultaneously preserve the maximum possible amount of iron and carbon, which is necessary for returning blast-furnace sludge to the technological process. This development is designed to solve the problem of utilization of technogenic raw materials. Some ways of optimization of the sludge leaching technology are envisaged. The methods of alkaline leaching with solutions of ammonium carbonate and ammonium chloride and leaching with hydrochloric acid in the presence of accompanying oxidants were compared. The ammonia-chloride and ammonia-carbonate methods in the presence of hydrogen peroxide do not allow to reduce the content of sulfur and zinc to the required values. It has been shown that the optimized process of hydrochloric acid leaching with a NaClO/HCl/H2O mixture under mild conditions allows minimizing the amount of reagents and leads to a product with a sulfur and zinc content of less than 0.1 wt% without significant transfer of iron into solution. |
