Summary:A one-step convergent method was proposed for the synthesis of branched macromolecules in the presence of conjugated dinitrones ( N , N -dimethylglyoxal dinitrone, N , N -di- tert -butylglyoxal dinitrone, and N , N - diphenylglyoxal dinitrone) under radical initiation. It was found that branched polystyrene macromolecules synthesized with participation of α-dinitrones have lower glass transition temperatures than their linear analogues. Modification methods for the prepared polymers containing alkoxyamine moieties with the goal to increase their thermal stability were developed.
