Summary: | In particular, teachers and those in the education field face several unique challenges regarding the balance of family and work obligations, coping with the stress of preventing infection, and helping students understand the multitude of events that are occurring simultaneously with the pandemic that include, but are not limited to, the social justice protests, the 2020 presidential election, and the 2021 Capitol insurrection. According to Goodrick (2014), reflective research "involves the analysis and synthesis of the similarities, differences, and patterns across two or more cases that share a common focus" (1). The responsibility to manage my new work duties virtually for eight hours a day while balancing the caring and teaching of my two young children was a balance that I had to figure out and adjust to quickly with little guidance or assistance. Being a mother and an educator during a global pandemic meant life changed in the blink of an eye while the rest of the world expected business to continue as usual. |
