Summary: | The nucleation of plasticity in a FeNi sample with a gradient grain structure under uniaxial compression has been studied within the framework of molecular dynamics simulation. It is shown that plastic deformation begins with the generation of perfect dislocations in a layer with large grains. This layer is deformed to a greater extent under loading, due to glide of perfect dislocations in them and grain boundary migration towards grains of the medium size. The greatest contribution to the development of plasticity in a layer with small grains is made by grain boundary processes: grain boundary migration and grain boundary sliding. The density of twins in layers with small grains increases significantly with increasing strain. |
