Experimental and theoretical determination of compressive strength of light gauge steel stub column
Cold formed steel structural members are light gauge members manufacturing from a steel sheet of uniform thickness in a cold state. Due to a combination of high strength to weight ratio, stiffness, recyclability, and low cost, it is widely used in building construction all over the world. We use fiv...

description | Cold formed steel structural members are light gauge members manufacturing from a steel sheet of uniform thickness in a cold state. Due to a combination of high strength to weight ratio, stiffness, recyclability, and low cost, it is widely used in building construction all over the world. We use five sections in our experimental investigation report: simple section, channel section inner lipped, channel section outer lipped, channel section intermediate stiffener and inner lipped, and channel section intermediate stiffener and intermediate stiffener. The results forms the different types of buckling namely global buckling, local buckling and distortional buckling in different section. We adopt the American iron and steel institute’s North American specification for the design of cold formed steel structural members and also analyze the cold formed steel member through Cornel University Finite Strip Method (CUFSM) software. |
