Summary:Author and article characteristics in CDQ articles from 2000 to 2019 were analyzed for trends over time with a special focus on the past 5 years and upon research articles. At this time (2015–2019), nearly 60% of CDQ authors are women, and only 5% of authors are not affiliated with a university. Nearly a fourth of all lead authors reside outside of the United States. From 2015 to 2019, nearly 85% of all CDQ articles published were research articles, and qualitative studies increased significantly. Nearly all other methodological, participant, sample, and statistical characteristics were stable over time. Report of effect sizes and study validity trended toward increases over time, while 81% of research studies reported relevant study reliability results.
